Time of Your Life is a full-length,
improvised musical based on an audience members life. Here's
how it works...
PRE-SHOW:
AUDIENCE INTERVIEWS
As
audience members find their seats, they are greeted by members of
the Time of Your Life cast armed with a stack of blue cards
and a pen. The actors will ask each audience member if they would
like to have their life performed as a musical production and conduct
a brief interview. The audience member will be asked about his/her
childhood, a special achievement or a memorable moment, current
occupation and a goal or dream yet to be accomplished.
The
cast will make every attempt to meet with each audience member before
showtime. Audience participation is strictly voluntary.
SHOWTIME:
WARM UP AND AUDIENCE MEMBER SELECTION
The
show will begin with a brief introduction from the host of Time
of Your Life followed by a song performed by the entire cast.
The cast will then perform two or three short improvisational games,
similar to the skits performed on the television show "Whose
Line Is It Anyway?" These improvisational games will require
audience suggestions as taken from the stage. So, as always, audience
members are asked to shout their suggestions loudly and with courage!
At the conclusion of the final improvisational game, a hat is produced
filled with the blue cards from the preliminary interviews. An audience
volunteer is then asked to draw a card with the name of the lucky
audience member whose life will be featured in this evenings
performance. The host will then introduce the audience member and
proceed to recount the preliminary interview questions regarding
childhood memories, but this time the entire audience will be able
to hear the responses.
ACT
1: THE FORMATIVE YEARS
After
a brief overture, the cast will recreate the audience members
childhood and memorable moment, as a musical, as described in the
onstage interview. This generally takes about thirty minutes*, and
is followed by an intermission.
ACT
2: CURRENT ACTIVITIES AND FUTURE ASPIRATIONS
After
intermission, the host returns to the stage and continues the second
half of the onstage interview detailing the current occupation and
lifetime goal of the featured audience member. After a brief overture,
the cast will recreate the audience members current life and
lifelong ambition, as a musical, as described in the onstage interview,
followed by a show-stopping finale. This generally takes about forty-five
minutes*.
